Since he moved to New York from Buffalo twenty years ago, Frank Hanavan has been painting realistic scenes of the City. His paintings depict shadows, reflections, and colors among the taxicabs and shops on City sidewalks and New York Harbor. His most recent exhibitions have been set aboard local historic vessels, the steamship Lilac on the Hudson River and the Lehigh Valley Railroad Barge #79, which houses the Waterfront Museum in Red Hook, Brooklyn. In 2013 Hanavan was honored by being selected as one of four Painters in Residence in Manhattan’s Bryant Park. His work was part of Inspired: Contemporary Artists Respond to John A.
